SOKA’ AN
Once a private teahouse sitting on a cloud in Taipei, SOKA’AN now unfolds in new spaces, sharing a ritual of tea that travels with the seasons.
Originally established in Taipei (2022–2024), we are now based in Tokyo while returning to Taipei every few months to host seasonal tea gatherings. SOKA’AN creates a space for tea wherever we go, bringing the Chabako (tea box)—a small universe in itself— serving a bowl of matcha in the moment. From the simple grace of the Chabako to more traditional, authentic practices upon request, we would like to share the heart of tradition, naturally, finding beauty in the everyday.
YAMAMOTO SOHKA (NATSU)
Chanoyu Instructor
Inheriting the Omotesenke Fushin’an tradition from my grandmother, Chanoyu has been a part of my life since childhood. While I hold a deep respect for the beauty and precision of traditional temae (movement), my approach is to share—inviting guests to explore the intent and the heart that breathe life into every gesture. It is my lifelong pursuit to explore how the spirit of tradition can be felt and shared within our modern lives. Drawing upon my daily practice, I would be honored to share a bowl of tea with you.
